The Capacity Toolkit is a valuable resource designed to assist medical professionals, health workers and advocates to better understand the principles of capacity and capacity assessments.
In doing so, it upholds the freedom of each individual to make their own decisions, while protecting the interests and dignity of those who lack the capacity to do so.
The capacity toolkit is divided into seven sections, each addressing capacity in a difference area of life (e.g., personal; health; financial). Numerous case studies illustrate how the information can be applied to real life situations. It also provides a host of resources that are available and useful. The NSW Department of Justice and Attorney General provides the Capacity Toolkit free of charge to people within NSW.
